More Than a Rugby Club: Vagabonds in the Community

At the Phuket Vagabonds, we believe that the strength of a club isn't just measured by the scoreline, but by the impact we have off the pitch. As one of Phuket’s premier social rugby clubs, we are proud to use our platform to support, mentor, and protect the island we call home.

Our Partnership with Asia Center Foundation (ACF)

​

Our most vital community link is with the Asia Center Foundation (ACF), a local NGO dedicated to providing a future for disadvantaged and at-risk children in Phuket. Through this partnership, we focus on breaking the cycle of poverty through two main pillars:

• Mentorship & The Junior Academy: We don’t just donate; we get involved. Our members provide mentorship and coaching to youth at the ACF, using rugby to teach discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Through the Phuket Vagabonds Rugby Academy, we provide a safe space for these talented kids to develop as athletes and individuals, fueling them with the nourishment and life skills they need to excel.

• Sponsorship & Scholarships: Since the 2004 Tsunami, the rugby community has been a driving force behind the ACF Scholarship Fund. We work tirelessly to raise funds—such as through the annual Phuket Rugby 11s—to provide scholarships that cover school fees, uniforms, and supplies for children who would otherwise be unable to attend school.

Community Outreach & Fundraising

When a member of our Phuket community is in a tough spot, the Vagabonds rally. Whether it’s an individual facing medical hardship or a local family in need, we organize targeted fundraisers, charity matches, and "cross-over" sports challenges to provide immediate financial relief.

Guardians of the Island

​

The Vagabonds are committed to keeping Phuket beautiful and its inhabitants safe. You’ll often find our players and supporters trading their rugby boots for walking shoes or gloves:

• Beach Cleanups: We regularly participate in and organize beach cleanups across Phuket’s west coast, particularly during the monsoon season, to protect our marine life from plastic pollution.

• Animal Welfare: Many of our members are regular volunteers at local shelters, including the Soi Dog Foundation, where we spend time walking shelter dogs and assisting with socialization to help them find their forever homes.
